This figure repreésents a 7.5 per cent increase on the regional share of the municipal tax bill. Translated it means an extra $1.35 for every $100 paid last year. Major cuts were made by the police board ($200,000 from a $15.5 million allotment) and by Family and Children‘s Services, ($110,000 from a $3 miltion budâ€" get). ' s ~ oA A total of $200,000 was taken from a special $1.1 million account. The account was established three years ago as a hedge against hefty tax increases.
