Ongoing program â€" evaluation will assist future decisions for continued funding. Operated by Waterloo Branch, Canadian Mental Health Association, 179 King Street South, Waterloo, the Study of Mental Rehabilitaâ€" tion Needs will be coâ€"ordinâ€" ated by Mr. Trevor Thomas, Waterloo. The study will investigate rehabilitation needs and available resources for inâ€" dividuals discharged from psychiatric facilities in the Waterloo area. . *‘*‘New approaches to the treatment of the psychiatricâ€" ally ill," said Mr. Miller, ‘‘have resulted in a major increase in the number of former hospital patients beâ€" ing treated in the communâ€" ity, rather than in instituâ€" tions. In the past 10 years there has been a reduction of over 8,000 patients in hospital psychiatric beds.
