Construction _ s t arted Wednesday on a $5 million sixâ€"storey office building on King Street East in downâ€" town Kitchener, to be known as Major Holdings $5 million complex planned He predicted that conâ€" struction of the new buildâ€" ing will have a major imâ€" pact on the adjacent secâ€" tions of King Street East, continuing the revitalizing process started by the Valâ€" halla Inn, Market Square and the justâ€"completed Canada Permanent Trust building. ‘"‘This building marks the second time we have shown our faith in downtown Kitchener by developing a large office complex," he said, ‘"our first one being Mr. Wiebe said the use of this brick, as well as the entire architectural treatâ€" ment including roof gardens, was designed deliberately to visually unify both sides of King Street in that area. Mr.© Wiebe was accomâ€" panied by William Stewart of Chatham, chairman of the board of Major Holdâ€" ings and president of Union Gas Ltd., which recently acquired Major. The exterior of the buildâ€" ing will feature the same type and color of brick used on the Market Square develâ€" opment including the Farmâ€" ers Market and the Oxlea Tower office building.
