Oktoberfest coins have arrived in the Twin Cities. Bill Stewart, manager of the Canada Trust branch at the corner of King and Ontarie Streets, announced the arrival of the 50,000 al}â€" nickel Oktoberfest dollar coins and 500 .999 pure silver Oktoberfest coins, on July 12. The 1976 coin shows Hans and Frieda at the Maypole on one side while the obverse side shows a buxom Bavarâ€" ian Miss with an armful of frothy steins. This format is different from coins isâ€" sued in previous years which had the Bavarian: dancing couple on the obverse. The nickel dollar coins are legal tender until Octoâ€" ber 31 and are available at all â€" financial â€" institutions, participating merchants and the majority of festival halls. The pure silver dollar is available at the downâ€" town main branches of banks, the Canada Trust branch at King and Ontario Streets and the Oktoberfest office. They are priced at $16.50 which includes regâ€" istration and insurance. CKWR holds a marathon A complete set of four coins for the years 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976 is also available. The cost is $5.00. ~CKWR in â€" Kitchener, is planning a 48 hour long music _ marathon. The Reflections Music Maraâ€" thon will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, July 16 and run until 6 p.m. the following Sunday. The proceeds will go towards the â€" radio station which is run comâ€" pletely voluntarily. Mike Thurnell, a volunâ€" teer at the station, exâ€" plained that during the 48 hour period. people will be asked to phone in their donations. In return, their name will be placed in a large drum and draws will be held periodically. ‘"There are well over 100 prizes," said Mr. Thurâ€" nell. ‘‘We are _ giving away free record albums and free games from Vicâ€" toria Bowl.
