Yet the land and water have changâ€" ed very little, and Ojibway Indians still hunt and fish in the area as they did in the days of the Canadian explorers. â€" This is the atmosphere in which girls take part at Camp Minwandum, the YWCA‘s northern resident camp, during their canoge outâ€"trip. Topâ€"notch _ instruction is given to every girl as they prepare for the adventure of their canoe outâ€"trip. Safety practices and respect for the sturdy, yet delicate, craft are taught, along with strokes and namoeuvres. There‘s a sense of purpose created for the girls as they learn how to waterproof their bedroll in preparation for their own camping adâ€" venture.
