The women's group raised the money through dances and social events they conducted and catering services they provided through the year. Extensive renovations were conducted last year to the Legion building at 19 Regina St. N. Jacob H. Enns of 47 Spring St. W., was named president of the Waterloo branch of the Red Cross at the annual meeting in Dominion Life auditorium, Tuesday night. Thompson, treasurer; Mrs. Ruth Lewis, secretary and City council's fire and light committee is concerned about a fire which nearly proved fatal to a Waterloo family when they were briefly trapped in the base- ment premises. John Epp, 118 Wa- terloo St., noticed smoke coming from the eaves of the building and rushed to notify the family while his daughter, Jackie, called the f ire department. No one was injured but Mr. Oli- veria was treated for smoke in- halation and over-exertion. Damage was about $10,000, Ald.
