Offhand I‘d say two important things to remember, in making and keeping friends, are (1) Nevâ€" er, simply never, say a single mean thing about anybody behind that person‘s back, and (2) Be a good listener. DEAR DORIS â€" A friend and I are doing a school project, very shortly, on ‘"How To Get Along With Friends.‘‘ The material gathâ€" 'vrled from you and other sources ill be presented to a grade 11 class. Would you have any helpful booklets? My friend and I thank you. Re help with medical expenses, most provinces provide this when indicated; but would Papa put up with this? I would strongly urge enlisting the services of the provincial poâ€" lice or the R.C.M.P; and of the welfare authorities. Of course she knows no other life and in spite of her age she is like a young girl in outlook. £5. days this man might pull a shotâ€" gun on some unsuspecting tresâ€" passer. Then what happens to daughter? DEAR DORIS â€" An old man and his daughter (50) live like reâ€" cluses in the old family home. The father keeps the doors barâ€" red so nobody can get in, but I am told the place is filthy inside. He is not well, but cannot pay for medical attention and thereâ€" fore will not have it. This man has a fear that menâ€" EI health doctors have a name r. If anyone comes into his yard unannounced, he has been known to use violence. When his three other daughters got in and offered to clean the place up, he told them to ‘"Get out and never come back!" DEAR PROBLEM â€" No need at all to give two wedding presâ€" ents. But you could save any misâ€" understanding by delivering your gift to her house, couldn‘t you? Once you get to know them well, it may come natural to you to use their first names or some affec¢â€" tionate derivatives. Don‘t worry too much about it. Concentrate on making friends of them. DEAR DORIS â€" If a wedding gift is presented to the bride at her shower, must another one be presented at her wedding? You might call them Mother Jones and Father Jones â€" or whatever their last name is. Or you might dream up a cheery nickname made out of their itiâ€" tials. Or, if maâ€"inâ€"law is tops as a cook, how about "Cookie?" zles many young couples, esâ€" pecially when all four inâ€"law parâ€" ents are very much in evidence. Of course when babies arrive, "Granny"‘ and ‘"Grampa‘"‘ are names much enjoyed â€" the probâ€" lem is solved. But you can‘t jump the gun on that one. think of calling them by their first names, even though that is how they signed their Christmas present to me. DEAR DORIS â€" I have been married a year and I find I can‘t address my husband‘s parents as Mom and Dad.
