In the first event they deâ€" feated Kitchener 31. They tied 44 with Wingham in the second game. The line of Dean Woelfle, Gord Taylor and Pete Rudat regained some of its old form accounting for four of the seven goals in the two games. | Waterloo came out strong in the third period in the Kitchener game with goals by Taylor, Woelâ€" fle and Musselman. They skated hard, checked close and kept Kitâ€" chener on the defensive most of the period. Kitchener‘s lone score came early in the first period School sports By Brian Prentice Both Waterloo collegiate basketball teams saw action last week against St. Jerome‘s Lions. Unfortunately, our Vikings came out on the short end of the stick. The Junior Vikings played exâ€" tremely well but they could not contend with the sharp passing and accurate shooting of the St. Jerome‘s squad. Great performâ€" ances by Vic Chaisson and Jim Fitzgerald, in attack and deâ€" fence, were not enough as the team lost 60â€"30. Last week‘s scores indicate that all teams in the bantam division are playing better hockâ€" ey and making the standings a little tighter. The key game was between the Hawks and the Leafs and ended in a tie, leaving the Hawks with that oneâ€"point edge over the Leafs. Both teams played well with little difference between the clubs. Jeff Gestneir scored two goals in the second period to put the Leafs ahead 2â€"0. They looked good for a win until Paul Rellingâ€" er came through with one of his fine efforts to put the Hawks back in the game. * Then, with approximately one minute left, the Hawks, with goaltender and six attackers out, tied the score with a goal by Brad Caron, who played a standout checking game. All the other games were close contests with Penguins, Wings The western division â€" Black Hawks with 13 points are leadâ€" ing the peewee house league folâ€" lowing Saturday‘s games. The team is now two points ahead of the Canadians and Leafs, both from the eastern division, who are tied for second place. There is a threeâ€"way tie for third place between the Seals, Blues and North Stars. Game results: Bruins, 6; Leafs, 2. Penguins. 7; Kings, 1. Canadians, 4; Rangers, 2. Black Hawks, 5; Seals, 3. The Vikings kept pace with the strongerâ€"built and faster St. Jerome‘s team for most of the game but fell apart in the final quarter. + Both Viking teams are now preparing for their next conâ€" tests when they are determined to make a better showing on the scoreboard. and Canadians coming up wins.
