His first position was with the citx,of Port Arthur where he worketi "yrith the engineering de. partment for; two and I halt years, then to the engineering de. partment of the Township of Eto- bicoke for three years, coming to Waterloo in 1954. While in Port Arthur, WArey met and wed Patricia Corcoran whom he met in the Port Arthur Communities Plays organiza- tion. D'Arey was_president of the organization at the time and also took an active part in many of their plays put on. Both have found' that keeping a home and raising a family of three has keist them too busy to cultivate the theatre activity here. Their children are: Darell 12, Derek ll and Debra 4. Though his position as City En- gineer keeps him very busy, he manages to find time to work on his cottage at Sauble Beach where he also takes a great deal of pleasure swimming, sunning and boating (D'Arcy hates the wintertime and does not take part in any winter sports). He is an ardent home movie addict and took the official movies of the downtown redevelopment that, have been shown at various functions. He is also well known in the area for his public speak- ing abilities and has addressed numerous clubs on civic affairs, partieularly,,as they pertain to his favourite city, Waterloo. D'Arcy is also talented in the field of music and plays the saxaphone and clarinet. In his university days he played with various groups but now only plays occassionaly for his own enjoyment. D'Arer received the larger portion of his elementary and secondary education in Dryden, then entered the University of Manitoba (Winnipeg) in 1945, graduating in 1949 with his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. Mr. Button is a natiye of Tor- onto, born there in 1927. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Saskatchewan. remaining there about four years, then re- turned to Toronto. This was dur- ing the depression years and the elder Mr. button. who was a dentist, was attempting to find a community wherein he could become more fully integrated. When D'Arcy was about eight, the senior button moved the family to Dryden, a small com- munity of about 2,000 at that time, here they remained. WArey is an adherent of the Anglican Church, was a mem- ber of the Hons Club and served for years on the Waterloo Me. morial Arena Commission (now diamond).
