In some places drifts of considerable height were |encountered but these were soon |evercome by the advance of the ‘highway snowâ€"plow. Many outlyâ€" |\ing country districts were comâ€" fplclcly snowâ€"blocked. In many ‘places the snow fences had not‘ been erected in time to catch this carly and severe blizzard. In years previous to the war many of thel (younger farmers were availablel |and anxious to act as extra patrolâ€"| men to put up snow fences but this ‘year they are cither in the army | or gainfully employed. In some |places the fields were too muddy and soft to attempt to erect the snow fences.
