Opening bids were 8%% cents f.0.b. and 9%2 cents weighed off cars, for bacons, but salesmen secured an adâ€" vanee of 25 cents per cwt. in a share of the day‘s sales. Receipts yesterday were 813 cattle, 345 calves, 920 hogs and 400 sheep and lambs. Steers over 1,060 pounds, outside of the few heavies above mentioned, sold from 5% to 6.85 cents per pound, the short supply in that diviâ€" elon holding prices steady on the good kind as demand for export was lacking. Butcher steers under 1,050 pounds sold from 5 to 6% cents, exâ€" cept the odd half carload at 7 cents, and the range on heifers was 54 to. 6% cents per pound, with just the odd single at the top. Half a dozen choice cows made 4.60 cents per pound, and just the odd one 5 cents, the bulk of the good butcher cows selling from 4 to 4% cents, with plain downward to 3 cents. A few canners cold at 1% cents per pound. Butcher bul‘s were a slow sale at 3% to 4% cents. Baby beefs failed to better 9 cents per pound at the top, and others in a light offering sold downward to 74 cents. A few store cattle offered, but there was no enquiry â€" for either stockers â€" or feeders. THE WM.
