The discovery was made by the deceased man‘s wife and her father. who had driven out to the farm fi!\is morning to ascertain his whereabouts. The deceased left his home on Tuesday morning and stated that he would be back for supper. It was supposed he had gorie to his farm ind when he did not return in the evening Mrs. Hannusch supposed that he had desired to remain with relatives living adjacent to the farm. Wednesday Mrs. Hannusch telephoned to a sisterâ€"in law to _ enquire about Mr. Hannusch and was informed that he had not been seen. She immediate ly became anxious regarding his welâ€" fare and _ communicated _ with her father. They drove to the farm carly Thursday and found _ his _ dead body. It is believed that the rash deed was committed some time on Tuesday. Another Kitchener hero has reâ€" turned from the front, Pte. A. W. Abbott, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Abbott, having arrived at his home. 205 Waterloo street, on Tuesday ifternoon. Pté. Abbott, who is only 17 years of age, enlisted with the i0th Battery in Toronto, and had been in France about five months. He was wounded in the leg and expects to be honorably discharged within a few weeks. His father, Pte. August Abbott in in France at present, beâ€" ing attached to the 256 Construction Battalion Sergeant F. Edmunds, of Waterloo. was entertained by the staff of King Zdward School to a dinner in the {indergarten last Thursday. The sergeant did not appear much abashâ€" ed at findinng himself in the comâ€" »any of so many ladies, and recount: *d some of the interesting and excit ng experiences which befell him luring his thirtyâ€"four _ months in France. Exâ€"Principal and Mrs. 3mith, and _ Scoutâ€"Master Appleby were also honored guests, and a very oleasant social hour was spent. PTE. ABBOTT HAS RETURNED FROM FRONT _At 3.30 in the afternoon a short laster service was held. ’%e scholâ€" irs, under the direction of Professor ‘oellner, sang suitable hymns, and Rev. E .Wethey gave a pleasing little calk. The proceedings were closed y the singing of the National Anâ€" hem. The deceased was of a quict and itmassuming disposition. For years he was employed at the Robe Company‘s plant on Foundry street, . as cut ter, but owing to failing health he was obliged to give up his position about a year ago, and decided 1 gage in farming with a view to recovâ€" ering his heaith. During the winter months he lived at his home on Ahâ€" rens street, but during the last few weeks appeared to be in a despon: doat mood owing to the condition of his: health. Previous to bis death he had disposed of his farm and stock. and was also negotiating the sale of his home on Abhrens street. He is survived by his bereaved wife and a young son who will have (the symâ€" pathy of a wide circle of friends. The fancral of the late Arthur Han nusch took. place Saturday fron the residence 82 Ahrens St. west, to St. Mary‘s church, and from thence to Mount Hope cemetery. RETURNED HERO ENTERTAINED BY TEACHING STAFF The depleting of the ()nnndnz:tl lield to the south of â€" Brantford _ is shown by the announcemenmt that thet Standard Gas Company, which hads q charter for operating in this field. will apply on April 15 to have Itsi charter cancelled. Th playing out of this field cut off the supply of pure gas to that city. HANGED HIMGELF WHILE N FAT OF DESPONDENGY As _ soon as _ the _ fire apâ€" paratus arrfved a stream was played upon the spreading blaze and it was only the work of a few minutes to exâ€" tinguish the flames. What might have ved a serious conflagration was averted Fridgay afternoon wh If{Io local tire \ it arrived »$ust {in the nick 11 to prevent‘s 5rast fire spread the oi; and gasolftie tanks of the rial Oil Co. on Wilmot St. The grass fire was started by>employâ€" es of the Grand Trunk Railway for the purpose of clezring up the dead grass beside the tracks. The fire got beâ€" yond the control of the men who start ed it and when the alarm was turned Im at 3 o‘clock the flames were danâ€" gerously near the oil tanks. ‘ Thousands of gallons of â€" gasolitte and oil were just out of reach of the flames when the department arrives. But the flames communicated wita the gasoline, explosions would have veâ€" sulted and no estimate can be made of the amount of damage that would have been done.
