Kutt who was chairman of the Kire Committee read a stateâ€" ment of the expenditures â€" in this department,â€"â€"Heâ€"stated that he had moved the motion â€"for the moinfrf ment of an assessment commissioner. An increase of $800,000 in assessment had been made and he looked for a reduction to 20 mills next year in the tax rate and to 18 mills in $wo or three years. The assessment on â€" the St. Railway, Grand Trunk and C. P. R. property had been raised and there was a big increase in income tax. He also stated that he had been instruâ€" mental in securing" a reduction in the percentage to be paid to the town engineer for‘ the work on the King street pavement, effecting â€" a considerâ€" able saving.
