BERLIN John Steckenroeder was charged by Nicholas Dopp with acting in a disâ€" orderly manner around his house on St. George street last Friday and doing considerable damage. A numâ€" ber of witmesses were heard . among them being a young Hollander who imitated _ Steckenroeder‘s actions. Steckenroeder said that his actions showed he was happy. The. witness replied that when a man is drunk and acts like he did he is happy in this country, but in Holland those people are looked upon as being crazy. The accused was found guilty and _ fined $5.00 and costs or 20 days in jail at hard labor. As ‘the money market is tight he went to jail. l The last case on the docket was : dispute as to the ownership of a dog. About twent) witnesses had been summoned. Meye: stated that he bought the dog a yea! ago last September and had it untsl four weeks ago toâ€"day when it dis appeared. He identified the dog in court as his. Other witnesses _ fol the complainant were heard, all oi whom swore that the dog belonged to Meyer. _ Witnesses for the defendant were equally certain that the animal belonged to Litfin who produced a photograph of a dog which belonged to him some months ago and had disappeared. The photo of the dog, however, was not the same as the dog in court, having more white on his breast and feet, and the Magisâ€" trate decided that the dog belonged to Meyer, and that it had not been wilfully detained by Litfn. It is }likel,v the latter will take the case to the Division Court.
