Mr. William Cronk- 'wrlght who is in charge of the farm Irat the present time states that every ‘tree planted in these orchards is growing which he thinks is somewhat ct a record. Not a weekend passes but what Mr. King and hi. family come up to the farm and remain until Monday. The Ii tle house has been complete Iy renovated and refurn‘shed and has been made " comfortable and cosy as possible. It it, understood that in' a short time Mr. King will erect s new modern summer home on the3 property. It is loated well on the: main highway where there is very little tunic. end that ls exactly Gill Mr. King desires. In A tow year-'3 'dams were bum, and the trout placed Ibetween them so that they were un- 'atrte to get into any ot the lakes but [during one or two heavy lainstorms some of the trout got away and are lin the lakes. Steps hove been taken (to prevent a recurrence of this, how- }ever and Mr. King expects to have some excellent t1alsintr for himself h’s family and his friends in about three or tour years' time. 1‘ In addition to the reforestation plan and the trout, Mr. King has a small herd of pure-bred Shorthom cattle on the tarm, which he is feed- ing and fattening for the market and hopes to add to this number. He has also put in two orchards, one of about four acres situated close to I Mr. King is an ardent tiahennan and hopes within a very short time (to have right on his new farm some ‘of the best speckled trout ihtrhintt to be found anywhere. During recent years the suckers and perch have been very plentiful there, but since takmg over the place Mr. King has been tiislltng them our. as fast as Lil, can and hopes to be rid of them ai-' together in a short tune. Already he has restocked the stream by putting, in 40,000 speckled trout. Two small in June, rains came along and they immediately showed signs of lite, with the result that today they are coming along nicely. They are red and white pine and spruce trees.and are planted six feet apart in rows plowed for the purpose and it is ex- pected that within the next three or, tour years they wilt have grown sut- tte.erruy to present an imposing 't pesrance and will have the etteet of preserving some of the moisture in the ground and thus improve the chances of the water in the lakes and streams remaining there. I susmlus, uuL uecmeu to make use ct the land in other ways. There are three tairaiaed lakes on the farm. They do not adjoin each other, but are located in diaerent parts of the farm. but a small stream runs 'through the place and in a rounda- bout sort ot way connects up the three lakes. There has been a ten- dency in recent years tor this stream Ito go dry in the summer months, and the water in the. lakes has not been I as deep as in previous years. Mr. King sought the advice of experts and decided that it these lakes and the stream were to remain as valued assets to his property he would have to do some reforesting, and he lost little time in making a start. During the month ot May Mr. King planted 200,000 trees on the farm. The work was done by Government experts and so tar excellent resultst are being obtained. During the early/ dry spell the little trees did not del so well and a few of them died, but 1 tl About two miles and a hut out n and south of the vllhge of Holland t'Centre is located what is known in Ithat locality no the old Price him. r.
