PRICEVILLE fhcan, HOPEVILLE BUNESSAN THE DURHKHAM REVIEW Bunessan Won 20d Debate Bunessan school was filled Wednesâ€" day evening last when most of the people of the section and a goodly number of young folk from Varney and nearby Clubs, were present to hear & very interesting debate beâ€" tween Varney and Bunessan Clubs, the subject being "Resolved that it is on the whole a greater advantage to the farmer to purchase his goods from the local dealer rather than from the dept. store through the mail order system." Miss Velma Carter and Pat. Macâ€" Millan spoke very convincingly for the negative side, while Miss Florâ€" ence Mcllvride and Cecil Barber effectively brought out many good points for the local dealers. All speaâ€" kers are to be congratulated on their platform presentation, Miss Carter doing exceptionally well. The judges â€"Miss E. MacCuaig, Messrs Harold McKechnie and Hector MacDonald, gave their decision in favor of the negative, which puts Bunessan aâ€" gainst No. 7, Normanby, in the third round of debates. A good program was listened to with rapt attention, consisting ef community singing, violin and organ selections by Messrs Weppler, Macâ€" Keown and Macfarlane, a very pleasâ€" ing duet and encore by Misses Petty, humorous readings by Margaret Watâ€" son and Annabelle MacArthur, and a cornet solo by Mr James Leeson. A short dialogue entitled "Mind your own business" was put on by eight members of the Bunessan Club. The program being over, tickets were then distributed for lungh, and a social balfâ€"hour spent while everyone found their partners. After lunch was serâ€" ved, rousing cheers for both Clubs, and the National Anthem brought a very enjoyable evening to a close. on Dec. 31ist of $4324.91 Blackâ€"McKechnie : That the Aud: itors‘ Report be accepted and they be paid $10 each for their services.
