Parents and guardians will thus see that the health and comfort of the pupils, as well as their intellectual adâ€" vancement are being well provided ‘or. This fact evidently has been already recognized for there is a large enrolâ€" ment of country pupils, but under new arrangements there is room for more, Dutham Continuation Class School is now one of the first in the Province, if not the first, and last week the Becretary was notified of a Provincial grant of $570.00. The courses of study Some fine additions have recently been made to the school Library. A new equipment for practical teaching of Chemistry, and for student practicein that subject is about to be installed, while on the material side a new modern flushing closet system supplied at considereble expense, will soon be in use, Revic ’ Tuesday morning last Durham Conâ€" | tinuation School again got under full headway with a permanment teaching ’stafl’. The changes that have been made have in no case lowered the standing of the staff. It was thought at one time that with a small Model school, an assistant for the fall term might be dispensed with but a few days with one badlyâ€"crowded room, soon convinced the board this was not possible in the best interest of the students, so an assistant bas been seâ€" cured in the person of Miss Lang, B. Topic for Thursday, card playing and dancing ; Friday evening : Character, Mass meetings on Sunday at 3.30 and 7 p. m. The evening meeting again saw an immense crowd, about equal to the Sunday evening previous. Rey Mr Kettlewell, the well known Methodist Divine was on the platâ€" !form with them and took part in the seryice. Mr Hunter spoke on three B‘s to avoid; the Billard room. the Ball room and the Bar room. M" Crossley‘s text was "1 have a message from God unto thee" and in the course of his sermon he related in detail the conversion of Sir John A. McDonald at their meetlings in Ottawa, to which: Sir Jobn was willing to bear testimony ‘| Since our last issue interest in the f raeetings has not flagged and not a few havye :rome under conyiction and | been savingly impressed. On Sunday ‘|afternoon the Presbyterian church | was crowded to the door with women |alone, seats having to be proviged in the aisles, Mr Hunter addressed this meeting on "The Model Woman,". taking his reading lesson from the chapter in Proverbs atout the virâ€" tuous woman. At the same bour Rey Mr Crossley addressed nearly 400 men in the rink on ‘"Mysteries," his text being " Great is the mystery of godliâ€" ness," His sermon was an excellent one, and was largely an appeal for the exercise of faith in things divine, even though mysterious and beyond human conceptions. He had many telling comparisons drawn from the material things in and around us to show how much in our daily life we don‘t underâ€" ‘stand. yet know it to exist. Even Science had to acknowledge its impoâ€" tence in explaining many manifestaâ€" tions. How much more then in spiriâ€" tual things, might we expect to meet with difficulties and hence the necess= ity of implicit faith in the Divine reyvelation,.
