It is certain they will object to several clauses in the bill, especially to the backward step of granting licenses to parties on Steam boats and railway trains, â€" Also great objection should be taken to the limiting of the period of trial of local option from three to two years, and likely to the requirement of a three fifths majority ro carry. On the other hand a convention of the liquor men is also to be held this week for they feel they are hit severely by some few of the clauses. Secy. Hanna may reasonâ€" ably claim that he must be about right whken both parties feel aggrieved. Mrs Michael McAuliffe, of this town, mourns the death of her brother John Culliton, who died in Toronto on 22na March, He was ill only one week with pnenmonia and leaves a wife and six children as chief mourners. Besides Mrs McAuliffe, there were present at funeral another sister Mrs Jas McLaughâ€" lin, of Anten Mills, and two brothers Jas. and Mich. Owen Sound, Markdale, and Meaford were contestants for it and since Durham did not enter, Meaford has won the Cup by Markdale‘s defeat of Owen Sound on Monday, Mr H. H. Milier, M. P., has been apâ€" pointed chairman of the important committee of Banking and Commerce.
