The contracting parties were Mr _ James Ellison, of Glenelg Townshin, and Miss Barbara Torry. _ Rev. C. E. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ledingham who were guests last week with the former‘s sister, Mrs. John Clark, left on Saturday for Chesley and after two weeks there the young couple will ieave for their home in B. C, Dr. and Mrs, Woods and baby spent New Year‘s with Mrs W‘s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Buchart, and Ewing being now home the family gathering was comâ€" plete. Misses Annic and Margaret McKenâ€" zie returned last week from Denver, Col., anmd the latter has assumed her duties in the Public School here. When they left Denver, street sprinklers were in use! Miss Tillie Telford, Detroit, who was a guest at her stepâ€"father‘s, Hugh MacKay for a few days left Monday to visit Torâ€" onto friends before returning to Detroit. Mr., John McKinnon LForonto, was home last week attending his brother Allan‘s wedding in the important caâ€" pacity of groomsman. Mrs. Robt. Watson, Rainy River, came down last week for a lengthened yisit with hér daughter, Mrs. W. Grant, and other friends. Mi. and Mrs. John Enrhardt and children returned to Durham last week,. Mr Ebrbardt has improved in health but not quite his old self yet. Mi. and Mrs. Jno. A. Black and family returned on Saturday from a ten days, visit to Sullivan friends, and,report snow there to greater depths than here. Mr. Willie Munio left tor Rockmart, Christmas week, having secured a situation in the electric plant of the Cement Co. there. Rev. Mr. Little, Holstein, and Rev. Jas. Skene, of Hillsdale were present at Dorvoch Anniversary seryices on Sunâ€" day last, Mrs. Jackson gave a very successful ball New Year‘s eye which was attended by quite a number of people from other places. Miss Sophia Jack came home from Toronto for New Year‘s and wili spend some time with her friends in Durham. Miss Hincks, 8. line. Priceville, visited her Imiend, Miss Bella McGirr, for a few days and called on other old triends. Miss Farquharson, who has been in the Winnipeg Hospital for surgical treatment, is reported as doing well. Miss Catbherine Caroeron left Saturday to continue her studies at the School of Domestic Science, Toronto. Miss Christine Jackson left Tuesday to resume her studies at St. Margaret‘s College, Toronto. Mr. W, D. Mills left Monday for Ottawa district, where he is engaged selling stock. The Sun is one of the few papers that places the farmers‘ interests before all others. _ Subscriptions may be left at The REvIEW Office. Clubbiug rate $175. â€" Durbham School Board has this week installed and in use a new school seat and desk which is sure to be in great demand as its qualities and excellence become known. _ It is the invention ot Mr Charter Swnith, and is duly patented, The desk is suppurted by one solid cylindrical casting, which makes the work of sweeping, &c., extremely easy. The desk by a simple thumbâ€"screw arrangement, can be placed at any angle. _ But the seat is Lge most unique featnre of all. It is supported on a strong piece of bent spring steel which swings on the upright casting behind, and can be raised or lowered to suit convenience of pupil, As the pupil rises the seat swings clear Into the aisle on either side, _ It is graceful, neat and compact and we hope our townsman‘s infenuity may be rewarded by large sales. _ School Boards in need o(y a desk should certainly call and see the new seat. Tne evening was pleasantly â€"spent in games, conversation and music, the latter in abundance, Mr _ and Mrs Angus leave in the future for their home in Russell, Manitoba. _ The hosâ€" pitality of Mi and Mrs D. Leith on this as on all social occasions was generous and cordial. Good wishesJland congratulations were courteously given and received. _ After which the guests repaired to the dining room where a sumptous supper was seryed and heartily partaken of, a beautiful bridescake richly ornamented the work of the bride and hostess, adorned the festal _ board. The presents were numerous and useful. among which were two beautiful gold chains frm}(i the groom to the bwide and bridesâ€" maid. At the residence of Mr and Mrs D. Leith, Normanby, on the 30th Inst, Miss Lizzie Nelson, late of Toronto. sister of the hostess, was united in the bonds of matrimony to Mr John Angus, of Russelil, Manitoba. _ The marriage cereâ€" mony was conducted by Rev. Mr. Campbell, of Dromore, in the presence of about 50 relatives and f:'iendg, some of the former from Dromore, Yeovil, Brussels and Galt. The parlor was tastefully decorated with an eyergreen arch and also an abundant supply of cushions arranged for the octasion. As the marriage party proceeded to the parlor the wedding march was very alffectively played by Miss Jennie Hotbâ€" kirk, of Brussels. _ Miss Hobkirk and Mr John Angus, cousins of the contractâ€" ing parties, acted as bridesmaid and groomsman respectively, while little ohnny (Gillies acted as flower boy in a childlike and innocent manner. _ The bride was attired in a dress of hrown zibeline cloth with cream silk waist, carrying a bouquet of white carnations. The bridesmaid was similarly attired, carrying a bouquet of pink carnations. MUNICIPAL NOTICE paired to the dining room, which had been tastefully decorated by Mr Lynn, of Orangeville, with evergreen and tissue paper, and all did ample justice to the tempting viands with which the table was heavily laden. _ The bride reâ€" ceived a number of useful and handsome presents, which attested to the esteem in which she is held by her many friends. Miss Elizebeth Torry was bridesmaid, while Mr Wm. Ellison attended the groom. â€" After congratulations all reâ€" A happy _ eyen. took place on the evening of December 30th, at the home of Mt John Ellison. of Glepelg Townâ€" ship, when his daughter Mar* was united in marriage to Mr George Torry, of Markdale. â€" The ceremony was perâ€" formed by Rey, U.
