COMPETITIVE IN EVERY GAME: the minor novice red Wolfpack won a house league tournament in Thornton. They placed fourth in their house league division and ended the play offs one goal away from the championship game with a 2-2 tie with the Wings. The Wolfpack also proved their competitiveness by giving the undefeated Orangeville M&M's a very close 2-1 game. All games played by the Wolfpack were one or two-goal games. After slow start ___________________ Wranglers just miss final game, settling for 3rd The Lansing Build-All W ranglers tyke white team started the season slow, but they improved so much throughout the season that by the end they came so close to making the final playoff game. They missed by a whisker, taking a respectable third instead. They real ly played well together and felt proud that every player earned at least one point. The W ranglers thrived on the 6 a.m. games. They were on the ice before game start for extra skating and when the games started, they played well. Now, as for the parents at those early games ... Kenwood (C on tinued from page 6) for best goalie with a 1.86 G.A.A. Dean Kenwood was awarded the Kiwanis most exceptional player of the year. Tim and Chris Egan were second overall in league scoring with 32 points, followed by Eric Car with 28 points in fourth place and David Degeer with 26 points in sixth place. The Gators were also victorious over the hockey season, winning two out-of-town tournam ents over the Christm as Holidays and were finalists in a March Break tourney. Wednesday, April 28, 1999 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER . - w a The Oakville Beaver j --------------------- ^ Qiy W X t e a m s p o r t s Lumberjacks won the MOM'S novice red championship The Lumberjacks, sponsored by Nairn Sales and Marketing, won the MOM's novice red cham pionship. Coach Scott MacLellan and assistant coach Tim Duffy felt that their team needed something extra to get them ready for their MOM's novice red cham pionship game. They both felt that something con nected to their Scottish heritage might fill the bill. MacLellan had already named his business after his father's birthplace. So why not a piper? Rory MacDonald, who lives in Oakville, and plays in the Milton Pipe Band, was available. He arrived, he warmed up (there just happened to be an adjoining room next to the dressing room at the Glen Abbey Rec Centre. He marched into the room playing 'Scotland the Brave', the players stood up and cheered, fell in behind him, and were paraded onto the ice where they were introduced to the crowd. To say the players were pumped would be an understatement. They won the game 4-1. Joel Adamo, Paul Rousseau, Jesse Herman and Paul Romano were the goal scorers. Assists went to Taylor MacLellan, Danny Francis, Brett Marshall and Jesse Herman. The Nairn Sale & Marketing Lumberjacks won the M O M 's novice red cham pionship.
