Silver lining at Oakville Hornets tourney The Oakville Hornets atom house league team, sponsored by Abbey Animal Hospital, earned a silver medal at the Oakville Hornets third annual tourney. Bobbijo Cooke scored the team's first goal of the tourney and they went on to prevail 3-2 over Oakville Withey Addison. They won their second game 3-1 over Stouffville with Kaitlyn Ford scor­ ing the winning goal. The troops were up bright and early for their third game, at 8 a.m. game, which they won 4-3 against Aurora. Amy Robinson led the way with the hat-trick. Later in the day, Liz Edmunds had the game's lone goal and Amber Minkkinen earned the shutout in a 1-0 win over Buffalo Regals. Later that same evening, in the tourney final, a tired yet exuberant Oakville team, who were missing three players, finally met their match with a 5-1 loss to Aurora. Robinson and its quarterfinal game 56-44 over Iroquois Ridge. Other highlights of the season included a tournament victory at E.C. Drury and a four-point overtime victory at Q.E. Park. The team 's overall record was 15-3. They finished in second place in the Volpe Division with a 7-3 record, behind first place M ilton (8-2). The two teams split their regular season encounters with Milton winning by 14 points and Oakville Trafalgar winning by three points. Peter M oore, who coaches the team along with Bill Rennie, credited the defence for spearheading the vic­ tory. "In the third quarter, Milton only scored four points," he said. Still, the Red Devils were up only 40-35 with four minutes left in the game but secured the Halton cham­ pionship with a 12-3 run.
