The grand opening of Neri's store Second Home Design was her dream come true. The store is full of vintage, antique, and recycled merchandise -- unusual items that can't be found through regular retail sources. Neri worked from home for three years before deciding to open the store. "There comes a moment when your home is full, the garage is full, and you realize your hobby is out of control," said Neri. "I love beautiful things. I have a great appreciation for uniqueness, and the craftmanship of the past. I go everywhere to find items, auctions, garage sales, flee and antique markets," explained Neri. "I scout all over the place." Neri updates many items for today's look with finishing touches. She adds a lot of 'distressed' finishes and paint fin ishes to her merchandise. Her business is doing well and her merchandise is in demand. Along with her merchandise, Neri has found herself in demand. She has appeared on the Dini Petty Show and Design For Living on the Life Network to speak about recycling items. The store's front show room is con nected to a resource centre where cus tomers can leisurely read decorating magazines and books while sipping com plementary coffee or tea. Neri is offering a $25 membership that entitles a cus tomer to 10% off merchandise and in-store work shops and seminars. Members can also borrow magazines, books, and stencils. Upcoming workshops include a Furniture Distress Seminar on April 29th. A Garage Sale Treasure Hunting Seminar will be featured in the beginning of May, and a Get Yourself Organized seminar will take place at the end of May. Second Home Design is located at 273 Speers Road in Oakville. SSMARTRoofing, Inc. / SHINGLES / FLAT ROOFS (RUBBER) | / SHEET METAL / GUTTERS /SO FFIT /FA SC IA Free estimates. Licensed.
