» - - r-- . Bake sale for Kosovo In response to the situa tion in Kosovo, the Grade 7 students at the Shaarei Beth El Hebrew and Religious School are raising funds for Kosovar refugee relief. They are holding a bake sale on Sunday, April 25th, from 12 to 12:30 p.m. at Munn's School, for Kosovar refugees relief effort. The students are in the midst of preparing for their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, a rite of passage symbolizing the assumption of adult obliga tions. In their studies, the stu dents expressed the opinion that the "ethnic cleansing" in Kosovo and the attempted genocide of the Jews in the Holocaust, were in may ways, parallel situations. Vigil o f Hope I Halton Police Chief Ean Algar, members of the Halton Regional Police and Mayor Ann Mulvale are expected to join over 200 victims of drink dri ving accidents from across Canada, at a MADD Canada's National Candlelight Vigil of Hope and Remembrance. The vigil will be held on Saturday, April 24th, at Applewood United Church, 2067 Stanfield Rd„ Mississauga, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Every day in Canada, 4.5 people are killed in impaired driving crashes, and hundreds more are injured. Impaired driving is the most common cause of criminal death in Canada, says MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The Candlelight Vigil of Hope and Remembrance promises to be a poignant event of music, candlelight and tears intended to support victims and to alert the public about the reality of drinking and driving.
