Mrs. Walter Phipps died Sunday at her late home, Grimsby, following a lengthy illness. In her 81st year, she was born in England, August 31, 1871, coming to Canada 45 years ago.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Grimsby, and was active in church work until taken ill. Her husband predeceased her 29 years ago.

She is survived by a son, Walter Phipps of Grimsby, and four daughters, Mrs. Lorne Todd and Mrs. Frank Hurst, both of Grimsby; Mrs. Harvey Schott, St. Catharines, and Mrs. J. Webb of Fort Erie; also 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday in St. Joseph's Church. Grimsby, at 9 a.m., interment being made in Queen's Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby.

Casket bearers were Laurence Todd, Harvey Schott, Michael Webb (sons-in-law), Ronald Phipps and Francis and Gordon Craig (grandsons).
