Long prominent in the fruit growing business in this district, William Fergusson Geddes, of Grimsby, died on Sunday morning, November 11, at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Grimsby , in his 86th year.

Born near Cayuga, Haldimand County, in 1866, the son of Isaac Geddes and Agnes Fergusson, he moved to Winona with his parents in 1872, residing there until 1903 when he came to North Grimsby Township. An active fruit grower all his life, he had enjoyed excellent health until a week before his death.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles Wade (Catherine), of Kapuskasing, and two sons, George, of Hamilton, and Bruce, of Grimsby; also four sisters, Miss Barbara Geddes, Miss Margaret Geddes, and Mrs. T.E. Northey (Jean), all of Hamilton, and Mrs. (Dr.) R.M. Calder, of St. Catharines.

His wife, the former Dora Evelyn Smith, predeceased him in 1947.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E.A. Brooks in St. Andrew's Church on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. B. Webster played appropriate funeral music. Interment was in St. Andrew's Churchyard.

Casket bearers were Robert S. Smith, Lewis Puddicombe, Nelles Rutherford, Ray Dobson, George Nelles, and Thomas Bell.
