In Hie Oakville Beaver's (C o n tin u e d fro m p a g e B 1 ) For a time Edwards bred Goldens in an effort to close the gap. Aside from the training and compe titions, Edwards travels as a judge and will offer a judging clinic for the Canadian Kennel Club in April. He loves the people he meets. "I'll meet somebody who lives in Nebraska and I'll get an invitation to hunt there. We all have the same thing in com mon and there are people from all walks of life." In the dog world, Edwards is a name known to many, though they've never met him. To be successful requires patience and experience, paying your dues, he says. The ribbons are nice but it's the satisfaction of having watched Bartley reach his potential that pleases Edwards. Edwards knows the day will come when he'll lose him. He and his wife have already talked about how they'll salute his life. Bartley will be cremated and every time Edwards travels, a few of his beloved dogs ashes will be put in the first hunting shell, so a little bit of this very special champion will be left where he captured titles and won hearts.
