Costumed interpretive staff will regale visitors with tales of life in 1899 at the park's living history museum. Family supported by community (Continued from page 1) monitor and printer to the beleaguered family. Pielsticker said he heard of the family's plight in an Oakville Beaver story and was moved to lend a hand. "I saw the article and that's what I responded to, in particular when there are children involved," he said. Pielsticker has volunteered his time to a variety of youth-related initiatives, including Toronto's Covenant House, group homes in Burlington and Milton plus Halton Women's Place. He said he sees his efforts for the local fire victims as simply part of what any concerned citizen would do for the "greater family" of Oakville. Another local woman donated furni ture to the family. Dickinson said the family went to Wal-Mart on Saturday and picked up pillows, towels and sheets (for beds they don't have yet) donated by the store. Dickinson said they have tried to clean as much of their clothing and other belongings as possible, but the smell of smoke is almost impossible to escape. So far they have managed to save only one pair of pants out of five. Oakville resident Sue Wheeler established the Connolly-Dickinson Fire Relief Fund at Branch 714 of Canada Trust on the North Service Road. Those wishing to make a dona tion can do so at any Oakville branch. National Sports in Oakville Town Centre II donated a pair of skates so Lyndsey could attend last Friday's Brookdale School skating party. A notice went home last week to Brookdale School parents, who responded by dropping off bags of clothing and games for the Connolly children. The Brownie group Wheeler's daughter attends gave a bag of clothing it had collected for Amity. The Body Shop in Oakville Place donated a bag of items for Gina Connolly . Sunday night, Dickinson explained, was the first night both he and Connolly slept through until morning. Connolly finally went back to work on Monday. "We're slowly getting there," said Dickinson. "We're taking this one day at a time." Civic Scene Wednesday, March 3rd: Halton Regional Council meets in the regional council chambers at 9:30 a.m. at regional headquarters, 1151 Bronte Rd.
