Mike McDonald and Steve Heaney played well defensively for Concrete. Martyn ro llitt and Ron Moore each had a homer for Reitsel while Ross Price played the field well and Dwayne Curtis was cited for a terrific triple play (the first of the season). Chris Acheson had a triple and w as a s t a n d o u t defensively. Paul Findlay and Brian McKeachnie also played well in field. Brad Appleton hit a triple for Mack Truck while Bobby Ongaro added a double. Kenny Laba, J im m y and Bobby Ongaro were noted for their defensive play. Dometic Sales and Oaktown Restaurant tied 15-15. David Wood and Russel Pierce each hit a homer for Dometic while Paul Joseph and Shawn Blennerhassett played the field well. Terry Halpenny knocked a home run for Oaktown, and David Morch and Paul Risdale played well defensively. Mack Truck nosed out McTavish Travel Centre 18-17. Brad Appleton had one home run and also drove in the winning run. Chris Aitken belted a triple and Ken Laba a double. Robert Garrow and J immy Ongaro played well defensively for Mack Truck. For McTavish, Greg Murray hit a homer while Mike Holubowsky belted two. Holubowsky and Kevin Arsenault were standouts in the field. BANTAM On May 23, Jelinek Sports Ltd. downed Garvey and Willmott Mens Shop Ltd. 9-6. Pitchers Keith Jacobs and M ark Howley combined to strike out 12 and allowed just four hits in leading Jelinek to the win. Garvey and Willmott pitchers Rick Wood and Paul Holmes struck out nine and allowed only six hits. Rick Wood struck out 13 batters in leading Garvey and Willmott to a 26-6 rout of Penwalt of Canada on May 25. Phil Carriero hit a home run for Garvey and Willmott while Paul Holmes played the field well. Ken Potvin was a defensive standout for Penwalt. Beaver Lumber beat Braithridge Construction 11-8 May 28. Pitcher Jeff Roszell had a triple for the winners while Willie MacFarland hit two d o u b l e s . C h r i s Etherington hit a triple for Braithridge and Tom Sulyma added a double. Rick Bevington, of G.D. Searle and Co., struck out 12 batters and allowed only two hits in holding Jelinek Sports to a 3-3 tie on May 30. Mark Hawley struck out 13 for Jelinek. Chris Marlatt hit a triple for G.D. Searle and Andy Bernier went 2 for 2 at the plate. Steve B a r n e t t and Ter ry McMahon played well defensively for Searle while John Jennings and Stuart Kirkpatrick were standouts in the field for Jelinek. Jennings also went 2 for 3 at the plate. Jeff Roszell allowed just one hit as Beaver Lumber downed Towers Food City 7-1 May 31. Dana Haywood, Towers Food City pitcher, gave up only 3 hits in taking the loss. Pete Scarrow belted a triple for Towers, while Tim Owen and Scott Russell supplied the hitting muscle for Beaver Lumber. Shane Crawford played well in the field. On June 1 Whiting Manufacturing defeated Penwalt of Canada 22-9 on a stellar performance by Rob Sutton, who struck out 11 batters. Sutton also hit two triples fo r W hi t ing wh i le teammate Eric Median played a strong defensive game. Beaver Lumber and Jelinek Sports played to a 10- 10 tie on June 1. Mark Hawley struck out 15 for Jelinek and held Beaver batters to five hits. John Jennings had a triple for Jelinek. Braithridge Construc­ tion downed Procor Ltd. 11- 7 on June 4. Gary Thomas and Brian Wallner combined for the win. Mike Osborne and D. Dahlinger hit triples for Procor and J. Burke stood out defensively. Outstanding defensive players for Jelinek were Doug Cann and John McCarter. Ken Beal stood out in field for Penwalt. Procor edged Dundas Construction 3-2 on June 8. Dave Lewis, the losing pitcher, allowed just six hits. Mike Osborne and Dave Chalmers hit doubles for Procor and Dave McBuin replied for Dundas. Dave Dahlinger and Dave Chalm ers played a good defensive game for Procor. MIDGET On June 4 White Oaks Opticians outslugged Midway Lumber 18-13. Gregg Goodfellow hit a triple for White Oaks while Mike Doucette added a double. Wally Hayward got a triple for Midway. Mike Erickson and Gary Pennycook played a good game in the field for White Oaks. Kevin Callaghan and Kevin Spencer allowed just five hits as they led their Bennett's Turf Service teammates to a 10-4 v i c t o r y o v e r Schroeder Construction. Marty Shultz had two doubles for Bennett's. Defensive standouts were Bill Conrad and Danny Laba for Bennett's 'and Marty Cowley and Mark Madensky for Schroeder. Mike Erickson of White Oaks Opticians pitched a two-hitter and doubled the score on Bennett's Turf Centre 10-5 on May 30. Andy and Ron Barber played well in the field fu r W h i t e O aks . Meredith School ol Modern Guitar got 18 hits but could only manage to bring four runners across the plate as they lost to Bennett's Turf Service 14-4 on May 28. Kevin Callaghan and Clinton Kirkpatrick smashed home runs for Bennett's.
