Sheddon regained form in the ninth and the Brampton squad was retired in order. The Oakville attack was initiated when Ken Moodie led the bottom of the first with a double and scored on Mike Shell's single up the middle. Bob Stacey had two of his four rbi's in the third when he knocked in Steve Nero and Ron Darichuk with a single. In th e h i t t i n g department. Gary Brooks belted a two-run homer. Shell went four for six (all singles), Brooks and Stacey had three hits and four rb i'S, and Jim Sheddon tripled. The locals suffered a 5- 2 loss last Wednesday at the hands of a Burlington squad that was sparked by solid pitching. Dave Frid fanned eight and walked two for the winners, Oakville scored in the first when Rocky Delfino singled and took third on Gary Brooks' ground-rule double. He came home on a passed ball. In the seventh (last) inning J im Sheddon singled and stole second. He scored on pinch-hitter Scott Garvie's infield single. Steve Nero started on the mound but couldn't make it through the first due to a sore arm and poor fielding which saw Burlington put over three unearned runs. Ron Darichuk came in on relief to retire the last out. He yielded two runs in the second and pitched shutout ball for the remainder of the game. It was his best game this year and at one point he re tired ten st raight ! batters. In five and a third innings he gave up three singles, walked four and fanned four. The two clubs will meet each other three more times this year and coach Claire Sheridan figures it will be a great rivalry with the teams finishing one, two.
