April 7, 1993 i The 3.5 million member, Mt- for-profit Canadian Automobile Association has presented the cov- eted CAA Used Car Performance Award for I993 to Toyota Canada "Inc. In what CAA believes is the largest Canadian survey of its kind, with well over 30,000 respondents, 95% of Camry owners reported that if they could go back in time they would buy the same car again. Toyota earned this year's award for its popular Camry model, years 1989 to 1991. Asked how satisfied they were with their vehicle, 91.7% of Camry owners said they were "very satis- fied". This compares to the 74.6% of all survey respondents who were very satisfied with their respective 1989 to 1991 automobiles. This year's "pyramid" award is me third earned for the Camry and the 8th earned by Toyota. The Camry previously earned the CAA award in 1988 and 1991. . The award is the nesull of infor- mation provided by 30,385 respon- dents to CAA's annual Vehicle Durability Survey. For Apa, it "reinforces the commitment" to the customer. CAA president Michael McNeil stated, "CAA's Vehicle Durability Survey is the authoritative source of used car performance informa- tion in Canada. lt is Canada's largest survey of its kind, repre- senting the experiences of those who own and operate the cars." This award recognizes the car that has been the most reliable and has enjoyed the highest owner loy- alty based upon the three previous years. To arrive at a winner, the CAA survey in excess of 20,000 car owners. Toyota has won the Bronze Pyramid for eight of the eleven years the CAA has present- ed the trophy. I think it is fair to say that Toyota have a firm grasp on how to build cars that both last and hold their resale value. Inside the dealership, Apa has brought in a business manager, added two new offices and a boardroom, that doubles as a train- ing centre. The latter now allows him to hold product information seminars for the sales staff, which helps inspire customer confidence in both the staff and dealership.
