F. Balsdon of the Baptist Church. Following this ceremony, Reeve. R. A. Saunders welcomed the two new members of council for the yurl“l.l:-mnl‘.!.uudry and H. W. Banks being the two new faces seen around the muniâ€" cipal table. ‘The four and a half hour session got underway at 7.30, so that the thirtyâ€"gdd resolutions, and other matters of civic interest could be dealt with. Accounts for Dec 15th to 3ist were dealt with, and were passed, the figure for this period being $974.54. Accounts totaling $2,053.â€" 47, for the period starting January ist, and ending Jan. 14th were also. passed and filed. Chief Constable Arnold Manley‘s report was read and accepted. Council however passed this resolution, with the salary remainâ€" ing at 125.00 per month. ; ‘The members of Council discussâ€" ed the matter of chairman of the lvulonl committee‘s, and finally settled for the following: Reeve R. A. Saundersâ€"Finance. Board of works, was again turned over to Councilior Robertson. While Councilior Elmer, asked for and got himself a ‘change. Elmer will act this term as Chairman of the Water Works. To newlyâ€"electâ€" ed member of Council Harry Banks, went the Cemetery Prop» erty and Street Lighting Chairâ€" manship. Councilior Laundry will act as Chairman of Fire Protection Printing, Postage, and Relief. Clerk H. N. Reid came in for a boost in salary, and also an inâ€" creage in responsibility. Councilior Robertson was of the opinion that the Clerk should be appointed as Supervisor of the Works Departâ€" ment. This would stop the matter of each Chairman having to tell the town foreman what to do and when. ‘"‘This would be of great advantage, and will assist everyâ€" one concerned. The chairman of each committee can simply call the Clerk, who will in turn map out a routine, so that the town foreâ€" man comes to him for orders." _ *There does not seem to be any system anymore, voiced Councilior . Things are not done like â€".rnou.mw.p.m * was Superintendent . of ‘orks, many years ago." p Council finally amended the preâ€" vious resolution, and the resolution appeared thusly : Beamsvilie‘s Chief of Police was Moved by Laundryâ€"secondâ€" Robertson, that H.
