Any person conâ€" victed of a breach of any of the provisions of this Byâ€"law shall forâ€" felt and pay at the direction of the convicting Magistrate a penalty of not more than ‘Ten Dollars $(10.00) exclusive of costs, for the first ofâ€" fence, and not more than Twentyâ€" Ave Doliars ($25.00) exclusive of costs, for every subsequent offence, and in default of payment of said penalty and costs forthwith, the said penalty and costs, or costs only, may be levied by distress and sale of the goods and chattels of the offending person; and in case of there being no distress found out of which such penalty and costs can be levied, the convicting Magâ€" istrate may commit the offender to the common gao} of the County of Lincoln, with or without hard labour, for any period not exceedâ€" ing Twentyâ€"one days, unless the said penalty and costs (if any) inâ€" cluding the costs of the said disâ€" tress and of the committal of the offender to the said gxol are soonâ€" 30.
