Welland, Feb. 2.â€"At the closing sesslon of the County Council here it was decided that the council coâ€"opâ€" erate with a deputation from Fort Erie to interview the Dominian Govâ€" ernment reldtive to the erection of a Peace Memorial Bridge at or near Fort Erie and get the Government to work in conjunction with the Comâ€" mission from the United States Conâ€" gress.\ Deputy Reeve W. 1. Horton of Petham bas also urged a Jail Farm for the county. He claimed that jail confinement made criminals . instead of curing them, and that for the genâ€" eral health and from a moral standâ€" point and also as a better correetive method, Welland should have a . Jail Farm. It was decided after the moâ€" tion carried unanimously, that the council consider the advisability . of joining with Lincoln county in the es tablishment of the same, and that the suggestion be laid before the Domâ€" inion Government to send an official to the Welland Council. _ The quesâ€" tion of a War Memorial Hall was turned down flat by the members, who opposed the scheme because the hall was to be erected in Welland.
