Office volunteer and Procor & share United Way honours The presentation of two awards highlighted the June 23rd annual meeting of the United Way of Oakville at Appleby College. Traditionally the Community Award is present ed to a community organization that has worked in partnership with United Way of Oakville, going above and beyond the call of duty to provide ser vices and support. This year, Procor Limited took the honours. Procor has been integral in previous years by sup porting United Way's annual campaign, participat ing in special events, and involving staff members by taking an active role on Campaign Cabinet. Other nominees for the award were The Oakville Beaver, QR Imaging, and Fern Hill School. Also presented was the United Way Volunteer of the Year Award. This year's recipient is Diane Larson who has been a dedicated office volunteer for the past three years. Larson's on-going com mitment to the staff team at United Way has helped in numerous ways including reception and administration. Other nominees were Fran Richardson and Cheryl Wytock. Also on the agenda for this year's AGM was the presentation of the Community Audit by United Way chief executive officer Julia Dumanian. In response to the changing Oakville environ ment, United Way will be allocating $100,000 in additional grants in 1999 for community agencies who partner to create new programs and services.
