The proposal from a numbered company opâ€" erating as Denzoff Alliance calls for a develâ€" opment with more than three times the floor space permitted under current zoning on lands within the popular RuhI Drive green space. In addition to the office building, the develâ€" | oper intends to retain the existing heritage | | which he frequents with his oneâ€"yearâ€"old house on the site, build an addition and reâ€" purpose it for commercial use. The Town originally owned the land and reâ€" zoned it from open space to a siteâ€"specific loâ€" cal commercial zone in 2015 in the hopes of enticing a business to occupy and revamp the heritage home. The parcel containing the structure was then severed from the park and sold. The proposal from Denzoff Alliance was submitted to the Town late last year. launched last week and has already garnered more than 215 signatures. The petition urges Town staff and council to "consider the integâ€" rity of the park, the safety and comfort of the residents of the immediate neighbourhood and the best interests of all residents of Milton." A Twitter page committed to the cause and the hash tag #savesunnymountpark have also surfaced online. Amongst the residents taking issue with the plans is Brandon Velez, who recently moved to a home down the street from the park, daughter. Velez said the park is always busy with famiâ€" lies and children who not only play there, but cut through the green space to get to nearby schools. The development plans raise traffic | and safety concerns for the father. "That park is packed with little kids, and there‘s also older kids who might go there on their own," he noted.
