"Considering the conditions, it was acceptâ€" 2 able" : Recently named as an inaugural inductee to the newly established Milton Sports Hall of Fame, Whitlock had a more favourable outâ€" look about Saturday‘s world record run. Taking advantage of a slight break in this dehalton summer‘s relentless heat, he raced to a new standard in the 1,500m at Toronto‘s Pan Am Stadium â€" clocking in at 6:38.23. That was approximately 13 seconds quicker | than the old record. * couldn‘t interrupt his ageâ€"class world record | "I was quite happy with the 1,500m. It was about what | expected to do, so it was pretty satisfactory." Also setting ageâ€"class world records in the mile and 5,000m recently, Whitlock hasn‘t completely ruled out the possibility of runâ€" ning a marathon this fall. But that‘s looking somewhat doubtful, given that he‘s having ongoing neck pain these days and feels he hasn‘t gotten in enough longâ€"distance prep work to date. "Time‘s quickly slipping away. | may not be able to get in the requisite training." Whitlock is the holder of dozens of ageâ€"class world records. These include races ranging from the 1,500m to the marathon, in which he remains the only person 70 or over to complete one in under three hours.
