William Alexander Marshall, a well-known resident of St. Catharines, and Inspector for Public Schools in Lincoln county, passed away suddenly on Saturday.

Since 1941, when Mr. Marshall replaced Inspector Carefoot as Lincoln County School Inspector, he was a resident at 48 Glenridge Avenue. He was a member of St. Paul Street United Church and of the Merritt Masonic Lodge in Welland.

Born in Lindsay, Ontario 56 years ago, the late Mr. Marshall was graduated from Queen's University and then began a career in the field of education. After two years in rural schools, he taught at Ryerson School Toronto for 13 years, then becoming principal of the Deer Park School, Toronto, for 3 years.

After 10 years as inspector of schools in Collingwood and Welland County, the late Mr. Marshall was appointed Lincoln County School Inspector.

Besides his wife, Martha Speck Marshall, the deceased is survived by one son, Norman S. Marshall of CHML, Hamilton; two sisters, Mrs. Clara E. Powell of St. Catharines and Mrs. Belle Macpherson; one brother, Stanley of Truro, Nova Scotia.
