- Elvin C. Everett of Nipigon ; railroader, businessman, historian, poet, photographer and landlord ; produces a contribution to Nipigon Gazette newspaper under the name 'old fossil' ; born in Dresden, Ontario in 1894 ; ventured into Schreiber area in 1916 ; took position as night clerk at YMCA, later as fireman for CPR ; headed to Lakehead ; went to work for Nipissing Clothing ; dispatched to lumber camps to take clothing orders ; opened a small store in Nipigon ; fire struck the store in 1928 ; took pictures for weddings, social and historical events ; accumulated one of the largest pictorial records of the area ; photo
