On Feb. 24, braving the chilly winter weather will leave you with a warm feel ing. That's when Food for Life hosts the annual Col dest Night of the Year walk at Glen Abbey Community Centre (1415 Third Line). The Saturday evening event - which begins at 4 p.m., with the two-, five- or 10-kilometre walks getting underway at 5:15 p.m. - will directly benefit more than 80 food programs and agen cies supported by Food for Life. One in 10 people in Hal- ton don't know where their next meal is coming from, and last year in Oakville, Food for Life saw 19,870 neighbour visits each month at local food pro grams. "This event is all about giving back to your commu nity," said Donna Slater, di rector of programs and community partnerships at Food for Life. "The idea of neighbours helping neigh bours is a philosophy that we hold dear at Food for Life. Too many times I have received a call from a neigh bour who must choose be tween heating their homes this winter or eating. This is not a choice anyone should have to make." Organizers are hoping to draw 100 people to this year's event and raise $25,000. To register for the walk, visit cnoy.org/Oakville.
