That's because she's grown up knowing a hospi­ tal as well as she knows her own home. The two-year-old Oak­ ville girl was born with a congenital heart defect that causes her heart to race. Her parents, Michael and Michelle, made the discovery at a routine 12- week ultrasound when the fetal heart rate was over 200. A mom to a four-year- old son, Marcus, Michelle thought the ultrasound technician was just being cautious, but a trip to her family doctor told her oth­ erwise. In fact the doctor wouldn't continue to treat Michelle, and immediately had requested she be seen by her own team of doctors at Mount Sinai Hospital. Michelle herself has the same condition - in fact theirs is the first docu­ mented (in a published medical journal) mother- daughter case.
