She also told some of her very interâ€" esting ‘experiences during those early pioneer days at Copper Cliff, Victoria Mines (later Mond Mines), Louise Twp., Sudbury, Cobalt, South Porcuâ€" pine and Timmins. @ Mrs. Anna â€" Katarina Kylloxen, daughter of Mikko Piirainen and his wife Kustaava, nee Kulkkinen, was born on the 7th day of April, 1877, at Kuhmoniemi, Oulu Province, Finlaxnd. Sne came to Canada from Oulu durâ€" ing 1899 through New York. Copper Cliff was her first place of residence in Canada. She married John Petre Kyllonen no June 24th, 1900, at Copâ€" per Cliff, where they resided during their first year. Next they moved to Victoria Mines (Mond Mines), where they lived the next ten years. During 1911 they came to Cobalt. During November of the same year Mr. Kylâ€" lonen came to Timmins, and on Dec. Ist, Mrs. Kyllonen followed him by rail to the end of the railroad at South Porcupine. Here "Pete" met her and took her by sleigh the rest of the journey to Timmins, where Pete had built an oneâ€"room house on Balâ€" sam St. This was the first housc% Bbuilt on the entire Balsam St. at that time. On the present Algonquin Boulevard fourâ€"foot high stumps were still standâ€" ing. During 1911 there were only three Finnishâ€"speaking families in Timmins: Mr. and Mrs. Matt Kinnari, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mikkolaâ€"Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Koski, in addition to the Kyllonen family. From the parâ€" ents of those four families only Mrs. J. P. Kyllonen and Mrs. Frank Mikâ€" kolaâ€"Nelson, now of Schumacher, live today. Mrs. Kyllonen was one of the original members and most active workers of the Finnish Presbyterian Church, and, after church union, of the Finnish United Church. The Reverend A. I. Heinonen, the minister of those plonsers of 34 years ago, and now of their children and grandchildren, conducted a short service of worship in the same place where he, on the 12th day of Dec. 1913, conducted the first Finnish service in Timmins and administered the sacraâ€" mxat of baptism to Senja Linea Kylâ€" lonen, theâ€"first white baby born in Timmins, and to her brother, Urho Reino Kyllonen, and to Hilma Lily Kinnari, ‘daugzshter of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Kinnari. In his short Easter sermon on "The Love of God", made also a few references to the people and to conditions of thirtyâ€" four years ago in Timmins and all over New Ontario. On Sunday, April 6th, from 1 to 6 p.m. some Finnishâ€"speaking pioneers from Louise Township, Copper Cliff, Sudbury, â€" Cobalt, South Poreupine, Schumacher, Timmins and other farming and mining communities of the district, gathered with three genâ€" erations of friends for 2x informal reâ€" union to celebrate the seventieth birthday of Mrs. Anna Kyllonen, of 5 Balsam St. North, Timmins. It was surprise birthday party planned and arranged by fellowâ€"members, adherâ€" exants and friends of the FPinnish Unâ€" ited Church of the district. _ Mrs. Kyllonen beamed with delight seeing so many of her friends gathered to honour her on the eve of her birthday.
