Lions Hear of Scout Work Seventyâ€"five students of Schumachâ€" er High School enjoyed a sleigh drive Saturday evening. After driving for about two hours through Timmins and round by the Nayboh Mine the party returned to the HMizh School where they enjoyed a hot bean supâ€" per. Afterwards dancing was enjoyed in the gymnasium. The Children‘s Choir of St. Alâ€" phonsus Parish Church held a party hst Tuesday evening. Each member was allowed to brmg a friend. Each ladyv attending brought back with her a tangible evidence of skill in the shape of prizes, but also a reâ€" membrance of hospitality and enterâ€" tainment given by the ladies of Norâ€" anda that they wiHl not soon forget. When they first arrived they were given a wonderful reception and fetâ€" ed at a banquet attended by the mayâ€" ors of both Rouyn and Noranda, and all during the ‘spiel they were treated royally. Each one said they, had a marvellous time and wonderful curlâ€" ing. Next year they will have a chance toâ€"return this hospitality as the Ninth Bonspiel is slated to be held in South Porcupine. This was decided at an executive meeting held in Noranda At this meeting Mrs. F. K Cooper, of ~South Porcupine, was â€" elected president for the next bonspiel, with Mrs. Raybould as viceâ€"president and Mrs. Ewing as secretary. In the, finals for the first event, the Hillâ€"Clarkâ€"Francis Trophy, Mrs. Vioâ€" let Shaw‘s rink went on to victory, being nosed out by one rock in the final game by the rink of Mrs. Doun Best of Kirkland Lake. However, this team are well pleasâ€" ed â€" with the second honours ofâ€" the ‘spiel and each brought home a presâ€" sure cooker as souvenit. Mrs. â€"F. E. Cooper was viceâ€"skip, Mrs. Joe Rayâ€" bould, lead, and Mrs. Frank Walsh was second. The Epléett Trophy (second event) was brought home in triumph by the rink of Mrs. Norma Sutherland, who with Mrs. John Hodgins as viceâ€"skip, Mrs. Don Millar as second and Mrs. Ron. Mansfield as lead, were proud winners of lovely chenille bedspreads. Mrs. Arthur Ewing, playing with one curler short (Mrs. Florence Grant was taken ill and had to have*hosâ€" pital care) brought back the honors of third place in the third event (Bucâ€" ovetsky ~Cup). Each player, Mrs. Ewing, Mrs. Darwin (Pamour), and Mrs. Iris O‘Shaughnessy received automatic electric irons. The Dome team, skipped by Mrs. R. P. Smith, with Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Sisson and Mrs, Jen Cameron, won fourth place in a consolation event, with silver bread trays as prizcs. Owing to the absence of Mrs. T. Cahill, who was to have skipped a fourth team in the bonspielâ€"she was called to Toronto owing to her broâ€" ther‘s illnessâ€"only the three victorâ€" ious teams quoted represented Southn Porcupine.
