She will make her headquarters at her cabin on Powell‘s Point in Golden City, and while she may go south in the winter months, her summers she will spend with us close to the friends she has made during her thirty years here. On Wednesday Mr. Percy Andrews acted as chairman. Miss Shaw had been asked to attend a special Board meeting and had no knowledge of the community affair which it proved to be. It was impossible to advertise it beforehand as it would then have been no surprise to the guest of honour. Consequently the hall was not filled as it would have been had everybody in town been apprised Mr. W. Honer, speaking for the Kiâ€" wanis Club, spoke of the similarity between the work of Miss Shaw and the work of the Kiwanis Club, the motto, "We Build," being applicable to both. He commented on the charâ€" acter building she has done. "During her long term of office she has set a high standard, and carried her torch high: and has left her mark, more than any other person has been able to do, on the hundreds that hav> passed through her hands." In conâ€" clusion he asked her to accept a manâ€" tel and electric fireplace for her cabâ€" in from the Kiwanis Club and the Townchip Council, hoping she would have time to relax and enjoy happy memories of the boys and girls who have gone through her hands. Mrs. F. H. Hall, represented the women of the United Church, then addressed Miss Shaw:â€"â€" on POWCL while she months, with us made du She gave our children love, and has earned thereby the love of all. Mrs. Kuisma (Laura Wuoromak1) then spoke representing the Finnish organizations of town. She told of the appreciation and gratitude of the Finnish people for this wonderful teacher. "She has never worn a frown She has rejoiced with us, and sorrowâ€" ed with . us, and has succeeded in uniting the Finnish and Canadian where others failed. She has scatterâ€" ed seeds of courage and faith, and guided our footsteps. We shall not forget. Words cannot express our gratitude. Our "great lady‘" she has been, and will continue to be." This tribute from the Finnish folk touched Miss Shaw greatly, as it did to most present. Mr. W. H. Mr. Percy Andrews, (President of the Canadian Legion} spoke for the boys in the services who have passed through her hands and especially of the brave who will not return! Heé expressed the wish that she will live long to enjoy her years of leisure, long_enough to estimate the value the Catholic people s:t upon Miss Shaw. "She has not only been interested in the worldly welfare of our childâ€" ren but their spiritual welfare has been of primary importance. Each denomination has its own ways of worship and the spiritual needs of each â€" has received consideration.
