The funeral which was conducted with full Masonic rites, was one of the most impressive and largely attended ever held in South Porcupine. The United Church was filled to capacity with mourning friends and sympathetic neighbours. â€" A Masonic service was held at 2 pm. in the Masonic Hall before the church obsequies which were conducted by Venerable Archdeacon Woodall (in the absence of Rev. J. C. Thompson), and Rev. J. A. Lyttle, of North Bay, former minister of South Porcupine United Church who had arâ€" rived in town to be present at the funâ€" eral. Both ministers spoke briefly words of comfort to the mourners and two hymns were sungâ€"*"‘The Ninety and Nine", and "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder‘"â€"Mrs. Fred Norman, of T‘mmins, sang the "Lord‘s most feelingly, before the cortege left the church for the interment in Tisâ€" dale cemetery. He was a genuine Porcupine "oldâ€" timer" having come as a young man to Golden City in 1811. It was there that he married Miss Margaret Ingram (of Utterson) in the first "Union" church erected in the Porcupine, Rev. Peacock and Rev. Morrison performing the ceremony. Later he moved to South Porcupine and in 1917 he became an employee of the Dome Mines, evenually moving to the Dome to reside. He died in his 55th year. His eldest son, Kenneth, with the R.CNVR. is stationed in Vancouver and was not able to be present at the last sad rites on Saturday. His seâ€" cond son, Clarence, of Montreal came home immediately upon hearing of his father‘s illness; and his only daughâ€" ter Vivian (Mrs. Victor Haneberry) has been living at the family home at the Dome. south Porcupine, June 6th. John Kemp McCaffrey, of the Dome Mines, know more familiarly to his friends as "Jack" McCaffrey died very suddenly of a heart attack on Thursâ€" day morning last in New Liskeard hosâ€" pital. .# He was advised by his doctor some weeks ago to take a holiday from work, go he left to visit his mother, Mrs. John McQaffrey, of Manoticky near Ottawa. He stopped off, en route, to spend a few days with friends in New Liskeard, jand it was while visiting them that he suffered a heart attack. He was taken to hospital on Wednesâ€" day and Mrs. McCaffrey notfied of his illness. She was able to get to New Liskeard and be with him before he passed away early on Thursday mornâ€" ing.. His body was brought to South Porcupine on Friday. His death is being very genuinely mourned by a large number of friends. His cheerful and kindly personality will be much missed from among his coâ€" workers at the Dome Mines and in Masonic and curling circles. Hundreds Pay Last Sad Tribute to John K.
