After a squabble with his conâ€" federates in this venture he decided to revenge himself and make money by gcing to th French military mission in Vienna and selling the plans of the conâ€" spiracy for 530,000 Czech crowns. Hatred of Britain ! Nothing daunted, Trebitschâ€"Lincoln sailed to China with the avowed purâ€" pose of finding a base whence a blow might be struck against Britain in Inâ€" dia or Egypt. He wrote in one of his books that he was partly successful and became adviser to Marshal Wuâ€"Peiâ€"Eu, but was disillusioned by the treachery and selfâ€"seeking among the generals. Phoâ€" tographed in Buddhist robes and cap, he had a forpiading aspect. While he was in Ceylon his son was sentenced to death for murder in England and he tried in vain to obtain a visa to visit him ‘before the execution. Anyway, finding England too hot for him he fled from that country, entering the United States on a forgead passport. He was arres‘ted in BRrooklyn on request of the British secret service, escaped, was recaptured and sent back to Engâ€" i land. There he was convicted and senâ€" tenced to three years in prison â€" not for espionage but for forgery!
