PAGE FPouUun LANDS FPORFEITED FPOR ARREARS OF TAXES UNDER MININC TAX ACT Pursuant to the provision of The Mining Tax A ct (Chap. 28, RS.0. 1937), the following list is published of mining locations, mining claims and mining rights, in respect of which taxes imposed by the said Act are more than two years in default, and notice is hereby given that unless the amount due as shown on the said list shnall have been paid on or before June 30th, 1942, the property in respect of which the taxes so remain unpaid shalÂ¥ on the day folâ€" lowing the above date become forfeited to and revested in the Crown. In the arrangement of the list, lands are given in the judicial district in which they are situated, commencing from the west, and in each district the lots in townships are placed first and in alphabetical order, according to the townships then follow the locations or claims not originally in surveyed terriâ€" tory, also alphabetically arranged and in sequence. Last week the Red Cross Society started another excellent campaign tc help the gallant people overseas. Thi: time it is an appeal to the people of Canada to help by gifts of handkerâ€" chiefs. These are for bombed victims in Britain and for civilians in the bombed areas. It is suggested by the Red Cross tha‘ people out shopping will be very ready} to answer this appeal when they unâ€" derstand what is desired. The idea is have Christmas shoppers and o‘he: donate handkerchiefs. Boxes have been stationed at eight wellâ€"knowr Timmins stores, the Empire Cigar store Sam Bucovetsky Ltd., the S. S. Kresge Co., the F. W. Woolworth store, Friedâ€" man‘s Department store, Mark Bowié and Co., Ostrosser and Co., and the Esquire Shoppe. Last night, about thirty friends of Mrs. Wim. Sillanpaa gathered at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. Winner of the final was Newkirk‘s rink. His rink beat out a foursome skipped by Tod. ‘This week and all of next week will see ‘t‘he McIntyre Curlers in a Points Game Competition. There are nine different shots in the competition and each curler has four tries at each shot. The curler with most points at the end of next week will be the winner. Ten curlers had completed and entered their scores up to last night and Mr. R. Jaccb was leading the parade with a thirtyâ€"six point score. This score is considered very good.
