Only Single Point Is Sepdldtlng Ankerite And Hollinger Now Staging a strong finish in the last period of their game against Dome at the MciIintyre Arena last night, the Hollinger Greenshirts won 2 3â€"1 win over the South Porecupine team. Scorâ€" ing a goal apiece in the second period after being held scoreless in the first period the Hollinger sneaked away in the last canto and hung up two goals while the Dome were held scoreless. The win sent the Greenshirts to within one point of the leagueâ€"leading Buffaoâ€" Ankerite Bisons and placed the Porkies farther into the league cellar. For the first two periods the game was a rather tame affair with no scorâ€" ing and few penalties. Neither of the teams showed the kind of hockey that they are capable of playing and it wasn‘t till near the end of the game that the game started to speed up. Hollinger: gi Kay, Wicken: wards, R. The kottom of the river at the point where the young lad was reported to have slipped in was very dirty and was covâ€" ered with branches and roots. Another Cop is Born Yesterday Afternoon Reg. Dorey, popular Hollinger baseâ€" ball star last year, left on Tuesday of this week to accept a position in Kitchener. Dorey played baseball for the Hollinger Rombers for several years and last year he won one of the games against Sudbury in the Northern Baseâ€" ball Association finals. On Friday another method was brought into action in an attempt to locate the body but it didn‘t turn out to be successful either. Theo Lariâ€" viere, a diver, was employed and he dived all afternoon on Friday and Saturday but didn‘; locate any clue as to the whereabouts of the body. Lariviere, who has had years of exâ€" perience and who owns a regulation diving suit, went into the water and thoroughly searched the spot where the drowning was said to have taken place and located a milk bottle that the young lad was reported to have been carrying with him. Relatives and others have‘continued the search since the weekâ€"end, but police have abandoned the search and have given up hope that the body will be recovered. Police believe that the body may have been carried out into the deep water and was then swept down the river under the ice. Detective Ernie Gagnon of the Timâ€" mins Police Department was a proud man yesterday afternoon and i; was quite some time before anyone could approach him for a statement. Yesterâ€" day afternoon his wife presented him with a ston. The baby weighed six pounds, fourteen ounces at birth. Reg. was a popular figure in sports in Timmins being a member of softâ€" ball teams in the district as well. He was accompanied by his wife and child. Quizzed as to whether the youngster would be tutored in the gentle art of tracking down criminals and eventually turn out to be a detective like his dad, Ernie refused to comment, saying only that he hoped the little fellow wouldn‘t grow up to be a juvenile delinquent. Teams Change Places McIntyre Miners went on a goalâ€" s;:oring spree on Friday night of last week when they met the Dome Porkies at the McIntyre Arena and when the game was over they were leading by four goals. ‘The win put them ahead of the Dome and it was sweet revenge for them after having dropped a threeâ€" toâ€"two verdict at the Dome the previous Tuesday night. Only in the first period were the McIntyre pucksters headed bu}; before the second period was; over they had their lead and then held it for the remainder of the game. The Macs ran up a big lead when they scored four more goals in the last period while the Dome got two. Best line on the ice was the Dome firs; string of Myles, Murdock and Bruce. They scored three of their team‘s four goals and were a menacs every time they stepped to the ice. Anâ€" other of the stars was Teddy Lister, McIntyre forward, who pumped in two Highâ€"Scoring Game Failed to Produce Much Good Hockey But Did Hand Out Plenty in Goals and Penalties. Fifâ€" teen Misdeeds Committed During Battle. of McIntyre‘s seven goals. Webster, on the McIntyre front line, played his usual steady and consistent game, getâ€" ting one goal and two assists. It was Sparky Vail, big Mac defenceâ€" man who scored the game‘s first goal and sent the Macs into an early firs period lead. He slapped in a pass from Webster to give the Macs the edge in the first four minutes of play. Almost at the nineâ€"minute mark Andy Bruce fired his first goal of the night on a nice passing play with Myles and Murdock. Three minutes later Bud Hume sent the Porkies ahead when he scored on a pass from Cyclone Taylor. Bill Maki was off the ice when the Dome scored on a breakâ€"away from a McIntyre power play. The Macs pulled up their socks in the second period and scored two goals to take the lead while they held the Porkies scoreless. Teddy Lisser scored the first one when he banged in a pass from ‘Grabowski. Just near the end of the period Jackie Drummond scored when he took part in a passing play with Webster and Baker. I; was a nice short passing play with the puck changing possession all the way through the team. The Macs started fast in the last period and kept the pressure on conâ€" tinually, scoring two goals to the Porâ€" kies‘ one and the doing the same thing over again as soon as the Porkies Alf Webster pumped in the first one after little more than a minute of play. Bishop slapped one in at the fourâ€"minute to give the Macs a clear lead of three goals. About half way through the period Myles scored on a passing play with Murdock and Bruce. It was the second straight win for the Bisons over the Hollinger crew and placed them well out in front in the league race. Hollinger built up a threeâ€"goal lead in the first period after Barney Morris had fired the first goal of the game for the Bisons but in the last two periods the gallant Bisons fought back furiousâ€" ly and kep; the Greenshirts snipers off the score sheet while they scored six goals for themselves. It was a real storyâ€"book finish and was another exâ€" ample of the indomitable spirit of the Herd. Barney Morris, former centre ice star and now one Oof the league‘s leading defencemen, was the outstanding hero of the game with three goals to his credit, while he did a masterful blue line job. He scored the firs; goal of the game for the Bisons and then saw the Greenshirts build up a threeâ€"goal lead in the first period. In the second period Morris continued the steady pounding at the Hollinger goal and was successful in scoring two more goals besides keeping his portion of the blue line will guarded. About seven minutes after Morris had sent the Herd into the lead in the first period the Greenshirts threw on a power attack when they released the full power of their firs; line of Wilson, Haneberry and Horbul. The three players did the lion‘s share of the Holâ€" linger scoring in the first period, getâ€" ting three of the four goals. Haneâ€" bery scored the first one on pass>s from Wilson and Horbul and then Frank Baker sent the Hollinger into the lead when he secored on a pass from Villenâ€" euve.
