Curtis had been ill for some months and died on Oct. 27th at Mcountain Sanitarium, Hamilton. e was born at Tillsonburg fifity years ago, graduated from ‘the S.P.S., University of Toronto, in 1913, in which year he came ito the Hollinger Mines where he served until his last illness, with the exception of four years spent oversi>a; im ‘the last war, part in service with the ~Second Canadilan Pioneers and later as an officer in the Imperial Army. He returned to Timmins with the rank of iCaptain. His work at the Hollinger won him promotion to high rank and left. To all of these the deepest symâ€" pathy of all who knew him go out in the loss of one who had so many ‘high qualities of heart and mind. as a citizen he was equally. highly esteemed by all for his ability and his agreeable character. He took active and very helpful interest in church, fraternal and ‘cther community serâ€" vice, being a valued member of the A. F. A. M., and serving for nearly twernty years as a member of the board Timmins United Church. He was chairman ¢f the offcial board and an elder of the church at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, formerly Flcrence (E. Nicol, and one daughiter, Elizabe‘h Anne. They were brought to Toronto on Sunday evening. After they were transported to Toâ€" ronto police still hunted for more of the alleged "ring" and Albert Labrecque 67 : Wilson Avenue was apprehended. Willie Franciotti, 18 Riverside Drive, was next taken into custody and he was sent to Toronto on Tuesday. Still another was picked up and sent to Toâ€" ronto yesterday. The last one was Alâ€" bert Mazzucca. on Saturday morning of last week shortly after ten o‘clock a police raidâ€" ing squad headed by Sergeant C. N. K. Kirk, of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment in Timmins and composed of officers of the Timmins police force and Ontario Provincial Police, descended on the homes of sevâ€" eral wellâ€"known Timmins persons in a series of raids and arrested four perâ€" sons on charges of conspiracy to conâ€" travene the regulations of the Foreign Exchange Control Board. All seven men will face charges in Toronto under section 573 of the Crimâ€" inal Code, "to commit an indictable offence to export gold from Canada without a license from the Foreign Exâ€" change Control Board," along with three Toronto people. The three Toâ€" ronto people are Sydney and Benjaâ€" min Faibish and Annie Newman. Another Timmins man alleged to be tied up in the same racket is AlphOnse Labrecque who was sentened to cne year in jail in Toronto last Saturday, after his conviction on a charge of conspiracy to sell and purchase highâ€" grade gold ore.
