Ottawa Department Has Reâ€" view of District. fAlnt!l posits in th marily for t ship has been vis‘ced by prospectors for over 25 years, and during the past 14 yoars several determined efforts have been madc ‘to develop mineral deposits. . Until recently, however, no great success had attended any of the efforts, and as ycet there are no proâ€" ducing minecs in the arca. The entire northern half of the townâ€" ship has been staked, and it has been prospected with some care, the prinâ€" cipal discoveries to date having been made in <«wo belits following the strike of the strata. The southern belt lies close to the Cadillac ‘"break" and crosses the township from Bouscadillac to the west boundary between cthe highway and Bousquct Lake. The northern belt, which is composed of volcanic rocks, is less clearly defined, but is the scene of the chief activities. Although developments to dave along the Cadillac belt in Bousquet township have not been particularly encouragâ€" ing, it must be remembered, the report ncues, that by far the largest percentâ€" tage of the most favourable zone closc to the main break is obscured by deep overburden, and has not been explored. Any deposits beneath this overburden are likely to be rich and correspondâ€" ingly small, so that much effort will be roquired find them. There is also much ground on the northern belt as yet unexplored and favourable to the cecurrence of deposits similar to those that have been found. @uU 8111 8Su Crossed by one of the main walcr routes of the region, Bousquet townâ€" Descrited as one of the most imâ€" features of the areca, the Cadillac break is a nsearly vertical, major shear zone along which the rocks are converted to soft talcose mica and chlorite schists. For 25 miles east of Bousquet township the many imporcant gold deposits are closcly related to the break, and in 1937 the shear zone was traced for about nine miles across Bousquet township to a JlitJs more than a mile of the west boundary. Nowhere in this distance is it exposed at the surface, but it has been c« in drill holes in locations that leave little or no doubt of its continuity as a rcâ€" markable «traight zone. The repork and the accompanying geological map are based on field work carried out in 1937, and were prepared to meet the increasing demand for gceological information on the area. The map is subject to revision particularly at the woslern end. Copies of.the mayp and repart may be obtained from the Director, Mincs and Geology Branch, Department of Mincs and Resources, Ottawa.
