The usual Brigade practice was held Monday lith at 10.30 a.m. in the Briâ€" gade hall, 10 Birch street south, with quite a large number of members being pressnt, Supt. T. H. Richards in charge. The class practised artificial respiration and fractures of the lower limbs the membjers taking a great deal of interâ€" est, espscially in artificial respiration, which is: hargq to perform and takes iots of practice for any one to perform correctly. As the summer months are now approaching and we find from past experience that more people are asphysiated in the summer months, through swimming and poisonous gases from motor exhausts, we are conconâ€" trating upon artificial respiration for the next month or so. We would like to.see as many members as 'possib:: take up this respiration, for we never know when we will be called upon to practice our skill upon some person or cther. It‘s well worth the time and patience which any First Aider spends to learn this and have the satisfaction to find that his efforts have been sucâ€" ec:ssful in restoring the breathing to some asphysicated person. The usual class was held in the evenâ€" ing, 7 o‘clock pm. with another large attendance. Artificial respiration was practiced under the guidance of Corp. M. Madden, then the members were put through their paces and questioned on ‘ the controlling of hemorrhage. _ This took up an hour of the boys‘ time. Then the boys indulged in a little recreation. The Brigade now has two table tennis tables and equipment, and the memâ€" |\ bers take a great deal of interest in these games. % The following is a list of duties for the week commencing May 17th. Mondayâ€"Brigade Practice, 10.30 a.m. and 7 p.m., Tuesdayâ€"Competition Practice, 7.30 pm., Supt. T. H. Richards. Wednesdayâ€"Home Nursing, 7.30 p.m. Nurse Milday. Thursdayâ€"Cadets, 7.00 pm., Cadet Officer B. Ash. Friday â€" Compstition Practice, 7.30 pm., Corp. M. Madden. Saturdayâ€"Whist Drive, 8.00 p.m. Amb. Officer G. Gibson. Monday practices to consist of roller bandaging and artificial respiration. All members are asked to be present at these practices. UNCONTROLLABLE TAXES WERE ONCE CONTROLLABLE (Financial POSst) The Minister of Finance in his budâ€" get address stated that 62 per cent. of Canada‘s revenues went to pay for "unâ€" controllable" expenditures as against 19 per cent. in 1913â€"1914. Every dollar of the expenditures now classified as "uncontrollable" was at some time or another controllable by some Dominion administration. Once a debt has seen assumed the interest on it becomes uncontrollable, but the "uncontroliable" interest is the result of a controllable expenditure. Future Ministers Oof Finance will classify as "uncontrollable" the interâ€" est on every dollar borrowed by this Government. The use of the phrase "uncontrollable ¢‘xpenditures" should be avoided by ministers of finance. It is misleading. Sudbury Star:â€"Which reminds us that spring is like loveâ€"it keeps you ouessing .
